Palo Alto, Calif., and Stockholm, Sweden - November 29 2016 — Soundtrap, the first easy-to-use, cloud-based music making platform enabling collaboration between people from anywhere in the world on a multitude of devices, was named “Startup Team of the Year” by SUP46, one of Europe’s leading startup hubs.
Soundtrap was honored with the “Startup Team of the Year” award on Nov. 24 at SUP46’s annual Swedish Startup Gala at the SUP46 startup hub in Stockholm. It was one of only three startups recognized at SUP46 Startup Gala 2016. Sebastian Knutsson, co-founder of King.com and designer of such online games as Candy Crush Saga, was inducted into the “Swedish Startup Hall of Fame;” and Dooer, a Stockholm software developer, was named “Startup Launch of the Year.”
Since its launch in June 2015, Soundtrap has seen exponential growth and has been organically adding multiple thousands of new users per day. The cloud-based music and podcast platform works across iOS, Android, Chromebook, Mac and Windows platforms, and expects to reach a million users before the year’s end. It is also very popular in the education sector, attracting more than 200 new schools every week around the globe, primarily from US, Europe and Australia.
“It’s such an honor to be named the winner of this highly selective competition,” said Soundtrap CEO Per Emanuelsson. “Our team worked so hard, and has achieved so much, in the time leading up to and following our product launch in 2015. At its core, music making is a collaborative form of human expression, and it is exciting that SUP46 recognized our team for collaborating to bring music and audio making to a broader audience of users.”
SUP46 is a hub of approximately 60 selected startups, ranging from seed stage to post-Series A, whose memberships give them access to a world-class ecosystem of investors, partners and advisors. Fewer than 10 percent of the startups that apply for SUP46 membership are accepted into the hub.
“Soundtrap is a great inspiration for the startups in Sweden and we are grateful for the many contributions the company makes to our startup ecosystem.” said Jessica Stark, CEO and co-founder, SUP46. “Since its inception, the Soundtrap team has relentlessly pushed forward and promoted its solution online, through ambassadors and in schools worldwide. It is a team to be admired.”
